DEPARTMENT: Corporate Brands LOCATION: Braintree, MA Grade 15 MINIMUM SALARY: Essential functions include: to manage third party QA organizations, providing direction on perishable product and manufacturer plant inspections; to manage, communicate and implement quality standards with all perishable suppliers/manufacturers as outlined by AUSA QA and global guidelines; to develop a perishable product specifications database and filing system accessible to the suppliers and AUSA/Op-Co Corporate Brands, QA, & Consumer Affairs Departments; to develop best practices for perishable manufacturers and manage third QA party plant and product inspections and follow-up as needed; to analyze perishable manufacturer operations for quality and AUSA corporate brand product integrity; to direct action plans from the suppliers necessary to correct critical categories for quality standards and food safety; to direct action plans from the suppliers necessary to correct critical categories for quality standards and food safety; to oversee best practice buying habits for obtaining quality commodities (lot-set-asides, run audits, etc.); to work closely with AUSA perishable procurement staff on implementation; to execute all recall procedures company-wide as needed, working with manufacturer to determine severity of recall and instituting corrective action; to collaborate with perishable manufacturers in upgrading their QA programs, identifying manufacturers who are unable to meet established quality standards; and to manage a best in class prevention program through the suppliers to insure proper security of AUSA Corporate Brand perishable products in accordance with the Guidance documents issued by FDA. Candidate qualifications: BS in Food Science, Chemistry, Biology or Microbiology; Master's preferred; 5 years of experience; Specialized Knowledge Needed For Performance of Job: Knowledge of GMP's, GAP's, Food Safety, and HACCP systems/processes in manufacturing plants; familiarity with the GFSI (Global Food Safety Initiative) benchmark standards; knowledge of Total Quality Management systems in manufacturing plants; knowledge of product & performance attributes to build a specifications database; manufacturing plant facility auditing experience; research & Development experience with products and product production runs; excellent leadership, human relations, verbal, writing, planning, organizing, judgmental, conceptual, analytical, creative skills and computer literacy; ability to work as a team player; ability to work independently and proactively; ability to manage multiple tasks under pressure in a dynamically changing environment; Excellent execution of programs and follow-through.
